Getting Started
What you will need:
For creating clay parts:
Storyboard sheets
Clay (I recommend Van Akens claytoon clay ...vibrant colors and doesn't dry out)
Egg cartons to store clay part in. One carton per child.
Handwipes (colors from clay can stay on hands...quick way to clean up tables after activity)
plastic white beads (for eyes) and permanent marker (to create pupils over hole of bead)
Vaseline (a dab behind bead eyes enable smooth movement)
Clay tools (or pencils)
Work surface: Aluminum foil or paper plates for each desk surface when clay is being used
For filming:
digital still cameras (at least 3)
tripods (one per cameara)
blue painters tape (to tape tripod to floor, extension cords to floor
extension cords if needed
goose neck table lights (one per "stage" or camera set up) I got mine at IKEA
For Digital Editing:
Movie editing tools: for MAC use imovies and for P.C. one can use Windows Movie Maker, Premiere Elements, MonkeyJam
Sound editing tools: for MAC use audio within imovies. for P.C. one can use Audacity or the sound tools in Premiere Elements.
For showcasing:
Media release forms
DVD's for each child (if you have the time to do this)
Get student engaged. I always begin my lead in to animations with several videos.
